Enjoying the Orioles in Your Yard

Enjoying the Orioles in Your Yard!

I want to share my excitement of seeing Orioles in my yard, and to share how easy it is to bring them to your area/yard.  Oriole feeders are designed for them in that they have wide perches to accommodate their size.  They love grape jelly, oranges and feeders filled with orange nectar. We’ve got you covered with multiple feeders.

Now is a good time to pick up an Oriole feeder as they are on their Spring migration routes.  We typically see them in WI towards the end of March, beginning of April  If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see them stopping over in your yard for a snack before moving on to their final destination.  If you’re really lucky, you’ll get them to stay and can enjoy them all season.  They remember that you put out some yummy food and will return each year!  A favorite food they enjoy are berries, so plant some raspberries or blueberries.

They enjoy baths in a shallow bird bath. (We’ve got some fun colors)  With nesting they like dense shrubs or someplace protected in your yard. I’ve been fortunate to see them nesting in my arborvitaes.  If they don’t stay in your yard to nest, put out the feeder again late Fall to get them as they head South to warmer climates.  Try to keep pesticides to a minimum to protect them.  Get your camera, sit in your favorite backyard chair and if you get some pictures please share them with us. We'd love to see them!
